Best of the Rest
Miss Lourella (Lou)
Miss Lourella is a Wonder-Mule. After a successful race career in her early years, we purchased her at the age of five. She has racked up a phenomenal show record, with her speciality being a gaming mule. She is quick, catty and athletic like no other. Successfully competed and placed in top spots in gaming at Bishop Mule Days, including Pole Bending, Arena and Barrel Racing. Now coming 20, she is being moved into the ‘kids mule’ realm and hitting the trails. She is a perfect example of a retired racing mule being repurposed into an all around mule.

Slick
Slick is a 14 year old 16 H John mule. He has raced, shown, jumped, gamed and the list goes on. He excels under English saddle and in the mountains...quite a contrast. He is now enjoying working for the Forest Service, pulling a pack string. He was given to Mike by Don Jacklin and won the hearts of many. He just has that “it factor”.

Starbuck’s Baby
Starbuck’s Baby is a stunning grey dapple mule who we purchased off the race track as a three year old. Gayle trained her in a number of curriculums with her first show in Springfield, Missouri shortly after purchasing her and little time under saddle, with an exceptional outcome. After a few years of showing and trails, we placed her back onto the race track for three seasons. She is now a gaming mule for a young lady and is bringing home the wins.

Clyde and Carmaleata
Meet Clyde (9) and Carmaleata (14). They joined our equine family in June 2020. They come to us by way of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) from a holding pen in Seven Oaks, NV. They were completely wild upon arrival and now can be caught, haltered, lead, feet trimmed and obviously fed well. We have no immediate plans for them, other than pasture pets, but if time allows, we will train them under saddle or cart. Donkeys can live until they are 50. Mike was happy they served a purpose when a mini-donkey needed a blood transfusion and our local vet called them up. They bring much nostalgia to me personally, as a small child we had a donkey and her name was Carmaleata. I love to hear them bray!
